A Kenilworth church is set to have 50 solar panels installed on its roof later this year.

St Francis of Assisi on Warwick Road has been given permission for the PV panels, which will be put in place on the roof of the parish centre.

Nub News understands they will be installed during the summer.

Permission for the scheme was granted at the end of 2023 by the Archdiocese of Birmingham's art & architecture committee.

Copies of the application were also sent to Historic England and Warwick District Council.

Minutes from the diocese meeting during which the plans were approved said: "The proposal is to install solar panels on the hall (not the church).

"This church is not listed, nor in a conservation area.

"The committee briefly discussed the locations of the panels.

"This was formally approved for the issue of a faculty."
