Guests who travel to Kenilworth Castle by bicycle, train or bus are now being offered a discount by English Heritage.

Visitors to the town's main tourist attraction can enjoy up to 20 per cent off their entry free through the car-free travel discount pilot.

Run in partnership with Good Journey, English Heritage launched the pilot at the start of September and will keep it in place until the end of March 2024.

As well as Kenilworth Castle, this discount is being run at Audley End, Battle Abbey, Bolsover Castle, Carlisle Castle, Clifford's Tower, Dover Castle, Eltham Palace, Osborne, Pendennis Castle and Whitby Abbey.

Guests may be asked to show their bus or train tickets, or show off their bicycle helmets, to receive the discount.

"You don't need a car to have a great day out in history," a statement on the English Heritage website said.

"Many of our historic places can be visited by public transport, by bike, on foot - or a mixture. Here's a selection of the most easily accessible ones.

"We are working with Good Journey to encourage car-free adventures where possible.

"Travel by train, bus or bicycle to receive a 20 per cent discount off walk-up admission prices at selected sites."

Kenilworth locals with a castle pass are still able to enter the castle for free.
