As the weather improves for the summer, Kenilworth Bowls Club are inviting new members to join and make the most of some friendly outdoor competition.

The club's home green is at Kenilworth Sports and Social Club, on Upper Rosemary Hill, and is rumoured to be the most southernly crown green in England.

The club plays in the Coventry and District League with ladies fixtures on Mondays, and mens on Wednesday and Thursday - all starting at 6.30pm. This as well as a mixed league on a Saturday afternoon.

In previous years there has been a mixed pensioners league on a Tuesday afternoon and a Sunday morning mens league. However the club has had to temporarily suspend these games as they seek new members.

Club member Nick Collet said: "Bowls is a social sport and good exercise, and after the match you go into the clubhouse for food and drinks with your opponents.

"Bowls is open to anyone male or female with no age restrictions - a few of us started when we were 10-years-old and our oldest player is 89.

"No experience is necessary as we will show them how to play."

For anybody who is interested in giving bowls a go, the club has a home game this Saturday (26 June) from 3pm and potential members are invited to go for a drink and to find out more.

Then on Friday 2 July at 6pm they are hosting a evening for everyone who wants to give it a try to turn up and play with experienced bowlers helping them.

For more information please call chairman Dave Machin on 07906331084.
