The latest update on Kenilworth's two new leisure centres has been released by the town council.

Presented at the last Kenilworth Town Council meeting, the report says a firm date for construction at Abbey Fields is yet to confirmed.

"Kier Construction are scheduled to be on site from late Summer 2023 until completion of the project," it says.

"Undertaking and overseeing the construction and development of the new facility.

"However, the exact date is yet to be confirmed, whilst consultation with Historic England is ongoing."

Further archaeology was uncovered in mid-May and this is currently being reviewed by Archaeology Warwickshire, Historic England and the project team.

A new location is still needed for the substation. The report says multiple locations have been considered and dismissed, and now the team are proposing to "return to near to the original location".

The toddler playground is now closed during the week but will be available for use at the weekends.

The junior playground will remain open during the work. However, there will be some days when this area will need to be closed.

The zip wire remains closed due to the archaeological findings.

Castle Farm

Work out Castle Farm also continues to progress with completion still on track for November 2023.

The upper floor concrete floor is now complete, as is the tarmac around the edge of the building.

The roof is also finished and work to get the power live is now underway.

Masonry work continues across the site, as does glazing work.

Focus is now also being turned to the Scout and Guide area.

"Regular meetings are ongoing with Everyone Active," the report said.

"These meetings include discussion on design and operation of the facility.

"Recently some more focused meetings have commenced to discuss specific operational requirements and mobilisation in readiness for opening."

The six car parking spaces that were available to the public at Castle Farm, are also set to be withdrawn for the works to be completed. So there will be no public parking at Castle Farm until November when the leisure centre opens.
