'Remarkable' cycling fundraiser to head through Kenilworth on 350 mile route
By Kerrie Porter 8th Jun 2026
Kenilworth will welcome a "remarkable" fundraiser this Wednesday (June 10) as cyclist Louisa Porter pedals through the town as part of an epic 350-mile solo journey across England and Wales.
Louisa, who lived in Cubbington for 15 years before retiring to Lytham St Anne's, is undertaking the massive "L2R" challenge completely unsupported, cycling up to 60 miles a day from Lytham St Anne's to South Wales.
Her route brings her right through Warwickshire this Wednesday, and locals are encouraged to cheer her on as she passes through.
She is taking on the gruelling ride to raise vital funds for Diabetes UK, a cause deeply close to her heart. Louisa was inspired by her 17-year-old nephew, Charlie, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 10, as well as friends and colleagues living with the condition.
"Every mile I ride or run is for Charlie... and for the millions of others affected by diabetes across the UK," Louisa shared.
Every penny raised from her journey will go directly toward life-changing research and support services.
Louisa Porter's 350-mile solo cycle is a gruelling physical challenge, but her goal is simple: secure 350 sponsors - one for every single mile she rides between Lancashire and South Wales.
All funds raised go directly to Diabetes UK to drive medical research, support families, and raise critical awareness for those living with the condition.
Louisa says: "Every donation, big or small, will help keep me pedalling when the miles get tough."
