HS2 is set to create a new road in Stoneleigh, to allow for a new overflow car park to be built at the NAEC.

Designs have now been submitted to Warwick District Council (WDC) for a new underpass, to take the new access under the realigned Stoneleigh Road.

This will lead to a field for overflow parking on the opposite side.

The proposed structure is just down the road from the HS2 line, and the already approved Stoneleigh Road Green Overbridge which will carry the high speed route over the carriageway.

Works come as part of a wider project to realign Stoneleigh Road, and build a new roundabout at the access to the events centre.

"The private access track will connect Stoneleigh Park with a grassland field situated to the south east of the current B4113 Stoneleigh Road," the application said.

"This grassland field provides overflow car parking during events held at Stoneleigh Park and this track will provide a safe means of crossing the B4113 Stoneleigh Road.

"The development will encompass a turning area as part of the existing Stoneleigh Business Park car park."

There will be no kerbs along the access road.

"Landscape planting, along with other forms of mitigation, will be delivered in conjunction with other nearby developments such as the Stoneleigh Road Green Overbridge, to reduce any impacts of the development and to preserve the surrounding amenity," the application added.

The HS2 act says the underpass will be built at some point, but WDC must sign off on the specifics of the design.
