HS2 says it has made changes to its plans to expand its compound next to the A46, following a public consultation.

The high speed rail developer first revealed the scheme in April 2022, stating it intended to temporarily grow the site to 30 hectares.

It wants to develop Highways England's former site on Stoneleigh Road to use it as a compound for the next four years.

And having already been told by Warwick District Council that an environmental impact assessment is needed before a planning application will be considered, HS2 has also asked locals for their views.

In response to the consultation at the end of 2022, HS2 says it has reduced the size of the site by one hectare, and will have one fewer stockpiles on site.

HS2 has also promised to "reconfigure our site" to reduce hedgerow removal by half.

A recent update said: "Over 60 people attended our events across the two days where we received nearly 30 completed feedback forms.

"We have incorporated your feedback where possible to update and refine our proposals."

HS2 has also recently been given planning permission to build a new roundabout on Stoneleigh Road. But until this is built, a new T-junction will provide temporary access to the compound.

Members of Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee have already raised concerns about the plans, questioning whether the 30-hectare site will be too big.
