A housing developer has applied for permission to cut back and cut down a number of trees in a Kenilworth wood to make the footpaths safe.
Bovis Homes Ltd has submitted an application for the works at Bullimore Wood, saying there are "many trees within the woods requiring work".
The plans submitted to Warwick District Council show some 43 trees behind Bullimore Grove were investigated, with many needing to be cut down, pollarded or have their dead wood removed.
Three trees have uprooted and are currently hanging over the public footpaths, the application said.
The report into the health of the trees, which was completed in November 2024, said: "Bullimore wood is an area of trees varying widely in age.
"With many of the trees on site being within the mature category and coming to the closing stages of their physiological life, it isn't surprising that there are a lot of major works required post survey.
"Alongside this, likely due to historic restocking, some of the shorter lived species are also in need of works.
"There is evidence of previous remedial or thinning works on site, especially around the boundary lines of the neighbouring properties on Bullimore Grove.
"That being said, many issues picked up in this survey have been needing works for many years and may have been missed on prior visits/surveys."
Plans said the trees should be inspected annually, with a new report published every three years "as a minimum".
Bovis submitted a similar application for works in Bullimore Wood in 2023.
