Green light for latest industrial building plans
By James Smith 15th Jun 2026
Council planners have given the go-ahead to detailed plans for a major new industrial building near Coventry Airport.
Outline plans for the major commercial site at Gateway South were signed off for a second time by Warwick District Council in January, with some 37 hectares of land to be developed.
Developer SEGRO has since submitted detailed plans - called a 'reserved matters' application - for one of the large industrial units on the site.
These have now been signed off by the local authority.
Plans show the unit would cover 8,571 square metres.
The application said the scheme would "provide a high quality employment development that will satisfactorily and flexibly respond to occupiers requirements and market requirements for commercial and distribution uses".
Landscaping will be introduced around the boundary.
The application continued: "The proposed design of the building fulfils the aspirations of the applicant based on a vision for a modern business park where buildings use good quality and sustainable materials and are laid out to respond, flexibly and elegantly, to business needs of the prospective occupiers.
"The building type is industrial, and the demands of this building type determine robustness, height, and lightweight structure, and a flexible, lightweight envelope."
Approving the application, a council report said: "The proposed details of access, layout, scale, appearance and landscaping of the site (the reserved matters) are considered acceptable.
"The proposed scheme is in accordance with the development parameters established by the outline permission and the proposals would not result in any unacceptable impact on the character and appearance of the area, residential amenity, highway safety or flood risk."
