Organisers say there is an urgent need to find sponsorship for the Kenilworth Carnival to make sure the popular event can take place again next year.

Across last weekend, Abbey Fields was taken over by Bob Wilson's Funfair, food and drink stalls, and live music, as the annual event brought residents together once again.

The parade also hit Kenilworth's streets on Saturday (June 24) with hundreds of locals lining the roads to cheer the floats on.

But as the event nears 100 years since it was first held, organisers have warned there could be no return in 2024 unless sponsorship can be found.

"Carnival day was a great success," a spokesperson said to Nub News.

"Unfortunately after years of the carnival, it maybe the last without a sponsor or two, or three coming forward.

"We have very little funds left and not enough to put on another event."

The carnival team is now asking local businesses to get in touch if they can help keep the near century-old event running.
