The community group Friends of Kenilworth Station have announced that entries are open for their mural art competition.

The group, who maintain the grounds at Kenilworth station, have been working with local schools and youth groups to start this competition.

Open to all children in Kenilworth (up to 16 years old), the competition is asking for designs for a mural to be painted at Kenilworth Station.

Entrants are asked to produce a mural design that fits into one of four themes: The Community, Wildlife, Train Station, and Kenilworth.

Entries will be discussed by a team of judges and the winning one will then be reproduced full-size on one of the walls at Kenilworth station. Two runners up will also be chosen.

Friends of Kenilworth Station have said "we want to showcase Kenilworth and it's unique story at the Kenilworth station. The mural competition is a good way to merge historic Kenilworth with the projects at the station.

"Children are the future of Kenilworth and we think by getting them involved in something at the station, will give them a sense of belonging.

"This is also something related to lockdown and COVID-19, we want students to understand the importance of community and community spaces. If we involve students in the project it will give them a sense of responsibility and inspiration to work on such projects even more."

Entries close on November 5, they will be collecting from Kenilworth schools, but entries can also be sent to [email protected] and/or at [email protected]
