The Friends of Abbey Fields group have asked for local people to volunteer one morning in September to the maintenance of the grounds in Abbey Fields.

FoAF are holding a second working party on Thursday September 17, at 9:30 am, meeting by the swimming pool.

The session will last for about an hour.

Event organisers have said "we feel that this activity can go ahead as there will be minimum equipment involved, and social distancing can be maintained easily."

The working party is aiming to curtail the growth of the Himalayan Balsam which is once again taking hold.

Organisers have asked volunteers to "please bring robust clothing and foot wear, as there are nettles and brambles around the main locations and it might be wet underfoot.

"Please bring your face mask and your own gloves. The face mask to be used for the first few minutes when initially getting sorted.

"We will provide bags, hand sanitiser, and health and safety guidance. It will be great to see you if you can make it!"

If you would like any more information on the working party, or the work that they have done thus far please follow this link to the group's website.
