Former MOD site could be turned into affordable houses
A former Ministry of Defence (MOD) site could be turned into affordable homes, if plans are signed off by the district council.
Altus Homes and Morro Partnerships has applied for planning permission for 34 homes on the piece of land off Oakdene Crescent, Hatton.
If approved the scheme would see a mix of one to four-bed homes built on the 1.17 hectare site.
The plot of land - previously used as a storage depot - is in the green belt, but the application says redeveloping the site would not have a negative impact.
"The proposed development has been carefully designed to make efficient use of the land and reflect its position on the edge of the village of Hatton, but also respect its countryside setting," the application said.
It added: "There is an acute need for the provision of affordable housing in Warwick district, and a clearly defined need within Shrewley parish (where the site is located) and the surrounding parishes to the site.
