Former Kenilworth sixth form can now be demolished

Permission has been granted for the former Kenilworth School sixth form site on Rouncil Lane to be demolished.
A 'prior approval' application was approved by Warwick District Council this month, meaning the site can now be flattened.
Permission is yet to be granted for any homes to be built at Rouncil Lane, once the site is cleared.
Homes England - which put forward the demolition plan - is still asking residents for feedback on their housing scheme for the land.
The developer intends to submit a planning application for 130 new homes at the former school site.
Prior approval applications differ from normal applications; the council only has a few weeks to comment on the scheme or it is automatically approved.
Writing on the plans for Rouncil Lane, planning officers said: "In terms of the proposed demolition process, WCC Highways have commented on the application and have no objection to the proposal, subject to a condition securing a demolition management plan to control the demolition activities.
"This is considered to be reasonable and necessary for the purposes of the development."
Kenilworth Town Council did not object to the application, but asked for "assurance the site would remain secure going forwards".
A similar process was followed for the Leyes Lane site, where demolition was approved separately before the planning application for houses was put forward, also by Homes England.
Warwick District Council has already approved funding for the Rouncil Lane site to be demolished, despite a contract with Homes England - or any other developer - not being signed yet.
