Local residents are being given the chance to have their say on plans for 130 new homes at the former sixth form site on Rouncil Lane.

Homes England has launched a public consultation on the scheme and is set to host an information event at Kenilworth Sporting Ground on October 1.

The former Kenilworth School site has sat empty since the school moved to Glasshouse Lane in 2023.

While Homes England does not own the site, it is working to put together a planning application to flatten the buildings and develop the land into a new estate.

Early plans show 40 per cent of the new homes would be affordable houses.

Designs also include new cycle paths, parkland and play areas.

The existing entrance on Rouncil Lane would be used to access the estate.

A timeline shared by Homes England shows it hopes to have an outline planning application submitted to Warwick District Council by the end of the year.

Locals have until October 16 to respond to the consultation.

"The former Kenilworth Sixth Form Centre is vacant following Kenilworth Secondary School's relocation to Glasshouse Lane," Homes England said.

"Homes England is working with Warwick District Council to develop proposals for the site for up to 130 homes including affordable housing to accelerate housing delivery in line with the council's development plan objectives.

"This consultation is your opportunity to share views as proposals are developed and presented.

"Your feedback will help us understand local priorities and inform the next steps in shaping the future of the site."

The information event on October 1 runs from 3pm to 7pm.

Warwick District Council has already approved funding for the site to be demolished, despite an application for its redevelopment yet to come forward.

Homes England is already redeveloping the former school site on Leyes Lane into homes.
