Former Kenilworth School student scoops award at major international film festival
A former Kenilworth School student has won an award at a major international film festival.
David Crisp - who now lives in Hungary - scooped the prize at the prestigious Stuttgart Trickfilm Festival of Animated Films for his piece 'A World In Chaos'.
The short film, which shows the "human condition from an animal position", received the Trickstar Nature Award.
The prize recognises the best international animated short film that deals with the topics of climate protection, biodiversity, environment and sustainability, and comes with a cash prize of €7,500.
Judges were unanimous in their decision, and said A World In Chaos featured "A lot of issues that are very relevant for our times, presented in a way, that an audience can relate to".
The 10-minute production shows animals re-enacting "situations that an average human may experience everyday", including racism, sexual discrimination in the workplace, anxiety, and depression.
The piece is intended to show that humans have created such prejudices and are not born with them.
Following the announcement of the award David took to social media to say he "can't quite comprehend" the prize.
"Thank you to everyone that worked on it with me, thank you to MOME Anim and to everyone at the festival and the jury... I'm blown away but incredibly happy," he added.
The Trickfilm Festival of Animated Films is one of the biggest and most important international festivals for animated film.
Founded in 1982, every year it attracts up to 100,000 visitors and industry professionals from all over the world with the best of high-quality animations and interactive works.
