Crews from Kenilworth Fire Station were called out five times in 24 hours at the end of last week, as Warwickshire Fire Service dealt with the huge blaze at Prologis Retail park.

Kenilworth's water carrier was sent to the RAM Enterprise warehouse fire as soon as it started, at 5pm last Thursday (August 19). The town's water carrier was one of 10 devices sent to the scene which continues to be monitored by crews.

Whilst the water carrier was at the Ash Green fire, Kenilworth crews were mobilised with Fenny Compton to provide cover to the Leamington area.

At 10pm they were then ordered back to Ash Green to act as relief and to operate the command support vehicle. They stayed there until 4am.

Just before midnight on Thursday the water carrier went out again to support Rugby crew attending an outbuilding fire in Dunchurch. The crew returned just before 4am.

Then just after 1pm on Friday Kenilworth were called with crews from Leamington and Wellesbourne to a house fire with persons reported trapped on King Street in Leamington.

This was a severe fire in the first floor bedroom of a two storey house, but there was nobody inside the property. Crews stayed at the blaze until 5pm.

A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "Kenilworth firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the property looking for any trapped persons whilst Leamington crews tackled the fire.

"Thankfully no persons were inside the property and nobody was injured.

"We remained in attendance cutting away to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. In total six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were used."
