Crews from Kenilworth were called to a lorry transporter fire in Hatton yesterday (May 17) afternoon which forced local roads to be closed.

Kenilworth's water carrier was sent to the scene on the A4177 Birmingham Road at around 3.30pm, where it joined three other crews from elsewhere in the county.

Firefighters tackled the blaze for a couple of hours, while local residents were told to stay away from the area and to keep their windows shut.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service shared an update at 5.52pm saying the fire had been contained.

"The fire involving the transporter near the Hatton roundabout has now been contained," a spokesperson said.

"Firefighters are managing the removal of the vehicles from the transporter and will remain at the scene to ensure it remains safe.

"Windows and doors can now be reopened."

A Kenilworth Fire Station statement explained: "Our Water Carrier utilised it's flaked hose to lay hose from a hydrant to supply the fire ground with a constant supply of water.
