Two public information events are to be held next week to provide more information on possible plans to develop the former Kenilworth School site at Leyes Lane.

Homes England has already announced a public consultation on the proposals which could see up to 230 homes built.

The consultation events will be held at The Tiltyard from 3pm to 7pm on Monday 20 October, and at The Kenilworth Centre from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday 23 October.

"Warwick District Council intends to redevelop this vacant brownfield site with housing," Homes England said.

"This includes new homes with enhanced sustainability standards.

"To assist with the council's plans, Homes England is considering purchase of the site to enable and accelerate housing delivery in line with the council's local development plan objectives."

Of the 230 homes, 40 per cent would be 'affordable' or housing for the elderly, meanwhile public open space would also be included in the site.

Homes England's plans were first revealed at a Warwick District Council meeting at the start of October.

It will conduct a site survey with a view to submitting a development plan.

A planning application is yet to be submitted by Homes England.

If it was to press ahead with the development, the future of the other school site at Rouncil Lane would also need to be decided.
