A tree which fell across Castle Road in Kenilworth yesterday (6 January) has now been removed.

Warwickshire County Council's contractors were on site this morning removing the fallen tree which came down on Monday morning.

Works to clear the road were delayed as the ford was completely flooded yesterday, meaning it was not safe for tree surgeons to get to it safely.

A statement from Warwickshire County Council said yesterday: "We are working closely with partners to remove the obstruction, and will do so as soon as there is safe access to the site.

"We are monitoring the situation closely to ensure that the tree is removed in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner."

The road reopened at around 3.30pm this afternoon.

Police also shamed a van driver on Monday for getting stuck in the ford on Castle Road.
