A diseased tree in Kenilworth is set to be cut down over the coming weeks.

The mature lime tree on Roseland Road will be replaced once it is removed, with the new plant to be funded by Cllr Richard Spencer from his delegated budget.

Cllr Spencer said the condition of the tree was raised by a local resident.

"Having inspected the tree with one of Warwickshire County Council's forestry team's senior officers, regrettably, the tree is diseased and will need to be felled," he confirmed in a post on social media.

"Once remove, the pavement will be repaired and obviously, a replacement tree (funded from my delegated budget) will be planted.

"More news regarding a major tree planting scheme in St Johns Division coming soon."

A date for the felling has yet to be confirmed.

The news follows the recent cutting down of a diseased tree on Castle Hill.
