Town councillors are calling on their district colleagues to priorities replacing the swings in Abbey Fields.

Speaking at last week's Kenilworth Town Council meeting, Cllr Kate Dickson said there were a number of issues at the town centre park which need sorting, particularly with the ongoing works at the leisure centre.

"There are no swings there because there are some safety issues with the framework," the Liberal Democrat councillor said.

"There are other issues with the smaller children's play area, there is some damage to some of the obstacles in there.

"I just wonder whether - given this is the only leisure facility we have left in Abbey Fields at this time for children over the summer - this council should write to the district council's green spaces team to prioritise repairs to the facilities."

Councillors had previously shared an update from the green spaces team which said the seats were removed as the timber posts were rotting in the ground.

Locals were told it would not be a "quick fix".
