Councillors have praised the success of a council group aiming to promote cycling across Kenilworth.

The cycling strategy group was launched at Kenilworth Town Council after the 2019 elections and has since worked to improve infrastructure across the town as well as encouraging people to get out on two wheels.

Following the recent conversion of the Clarke's Avenue footbridge for cycle use, Cllr Andrew Milton said the group had made some clear progress over the past four years.

"One of the things we were trying to do is get cycling on the agenda and get some infrastructure in place," he said at the last town council meeting.

"What we can do is lobby, organise and get residents' voices heard."

He added: "It has provided a focus for the town for cycling.

"Speaking to county council officers about the feedback they receive, there was a lot of feedback from South Warwickshire and a lot from Kenilworth.

"That helps to make things happen."

And Cllr Milton said he hoped the group would continue following next month's elections.

He was also quick to thanks councillors, officers and a group of dedicated volunteers for their work on the project.

"We have had a really active group of residents who have helped put the strategy in place and continue with us," he said.

"They got involved, they have helped man stands and volunteer, so I would like to put it on record our thanks to them."
