A community centre in Kenilworth has secured a £3,000 donation from a national housebuilder, helping them to expand their services in and around the community.

The Kenilworth Centre received the funding boost from Persimmon Homes Central as part of its Community Champions initiative. Run as an independent youth and community-based organisation, The Kenilworth Centre is dedicated to supporting the town's community. The group has been a charity since 2011 and is reliant on income from room hire and small grants and donations.

The group's mission is to be a community hub for the whole town by providing an affordable and quality venue for local clubs and groups, offering support and a safe place to meet for the town's young people. Persimmon's donation will enable the centre to continue its services in and around the area.

The Kenilworth Centre is located close to Thickthorn Gardens, Persimmon's development of three, four and five bedroom homes in the town.

The donation was marked by a cheque presentation with Cllr Alan Chalmers, Mayor at Kenilworth Town Council.

Becky Webb, Centre Manager at The Kenilworth Centre said: "The Kenilworth Centre is a centrally located community centre who offer a range of services, including Youth & Community provision, recording facilities at Abbey End studios and room hire. We are a registered charity and rely on grants, sponsorship, room hire and donations to deliver our much-needed provision.

"The generous donation from Persimmon Homes allows us to enhance our existing provision and develop further programs of activity and support for our community. The Kenilworth Centre is very grateful for this financial support."

Neil Williams, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Central, said: "What we do is about much more than just building homes, it's about leaving a lasting impact in the communities that we build in. We're always delighted to lend a hand to local community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them."

"It's great to be able to offer this £3,000 donation to The Kenilworth Centre, helping them to expand their services in the area."
