Locals are being told to stay away from Kenilworth Castle as a bomb disposal team has been called to the site.

Police alerted residents to the incident at around 6pm.

A Warwickshire Police statement said: "A number of our officers are currently at Kenilworth Castle after an object was found this afternoon.

"For everyone's safety, we've set up a cordon and are currently waiting for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team who will come and assess the object.

"We kindly ask you to avoid the area where possible as traffic is building.

"Thank you for your patience and please do come and speak to one of our officers if you have any concerns."
