Bomb disposal experts called to Baginton construction site

A bomb disposal team was called to a construction site in Baginton last night (August 10) after reports of an unexploded bomb were received.

Bubbenhall Road was closed by Warwickshire Police between Stoneleigh Road and Watery Lane to deal with the situation.

Police originally posted on social media at 5.50pm last night to tell residents to stay away from the area.

The area has now been made safe.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers responded to a call at approx. 4.50pm yesterday from a member of the public who had found what they believed to be an unexploded bomb at a construction site off the Bubbenhall Road in Baginton.

"Personnel had been evacuated and the area cordoned off.

"Road closures were put in place.

"Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) arrived and the device was made safe."
