Bid launched to force through plans for ‘self-build’ Kenilworth bungalow
By James Smith 26th Jun 2026
A bid to force through plans for a new one-bedroom 'self-build' bungalow in Kenilworth has been launched after council planners refused the application at the end of last year.
Warwick District Council refused to grant planning permission for the home to the rear of a property on Moseley Road, due to its impact on neighbouring homes and noise from the proposed air-source heat pump.
The application said the home was intended to be the applicant's "primary residence", but it drew an objection from Kenilworth Town Council.
Now the applicant has appealed the decision, asking the planning inspectorate to overturn the ruling.
A statement said: "It is our contention that there will be no significant change or harm to the street scene which we do not consider of particular merit but reflective of typical 1930s bungalow development, although the southern side of the street opposite to the proposed development, has no consistent design."
The statement also addressed a number of other concerns raised by council planners.
The district council will be given a chance to comment on the application, before a decision is made.
