The latest update for the £38million development at the A46 Stoneleigh Junction has been issued by Warwickshire County Council.

Having started in December 2020, the works will continue until at least summer 2022 and will see a new roundabout installed at the site.

The project remains in its first phase, with foundations being put in place around the junction.

What has happened in the last month?

WCC have begun stripping the topsoil and removing trees and foliage from the southern slip road and the embankment along Stoneleigh Road.

The stripping of the top soil will give a foundation for where the new roundabout and slip roads are to be built. WCC are currently testing the ground to make sure it is suitable to be built upon.

WCC has said: "Tree stumps have been relocated nearby to provide a greater habitat diversity for small birds, reptiles and other wildlife. WCC Ecological Team continues to regularly monitor and innovate when working with CSL to protect the area's wildlife."

A large drainage system has also been extended across the site.

Work near Finham Brook, where a water main has had to be diverted, has ceased for the time being,. However, a new bridge will be constructed over it later on.
