A two-bed flat in Stoneleigh Abbey is set to be auctioned today (May 24) by property agent Sheldon Bosley Knight.

The property, in the west wing of the grade one listed manor house, is one of 22 lots that will go under the hammer tonight at Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall.

With a guide price of £416,500, the luxury duplex apartment comes with "stunning" views of the the cricket pitch and River Avon.

The brochure says: "Sheldon Bosley Knight is proud to present this stunning two-bedroom duplex apartment which forms part of the impressive and historic grade I and II listed Stoneleigh Abbey.

"Set in six hundred and ninety acres of parkland and overlooking the River Avon, Stoneleigh Abbey is one of the United Kingdoms' finest estates."

The apartment comes with an annual service charge of £5,033.46, and a 125-year lease which began in 1997.

The abbey itself was founded by the Cistercians in the 12th century, although little of the original building remains. It has spent much of its life as a family home.

During the 18th century the west wing was extensively renovated to provide apartments - although much of this was destroyed during a fire in 1960.

The building was eventually brought back to life during a major restoration project which began in 1997.

Sheldon Bosley Knight - which recently closed its Kenilworth branch - will start its auction at Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall at 6pm tonight (May 24).
