Elderly man dies after 'serious collision' on A46 near Kenilworth

A man in his 80s has died following a "serious collision" on the A46 near Kenilworth last night.

Police were called to the scene after a crash between a pedestrian and an HGV on the northbound carriageway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A Warwickshire Police statement said: "We were called to the northbound carriageway of the A46 between Thickthorn (Kenilworth) and the Stoneleigh junction for Coventry shortly after 1.30am this morning (Friday).

"It followed reports of a collision between a pedestrian and the driver of an HGV. The man in his 80s was sadly pronounced deceased.

"His next of kin has been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. A file will be prepared for the coroner."

The dual carriageway was shut until around 7am this morning while police carried out "collision investigations".
