One month since its inception, the People's Inquiry panel is making good progress in its quest to tackle this issues surrounding climate change in Warwick District.

Since 12 November, a panel of 30 residents, reflecting the district's population in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, deprivation, geography and attitude to climate change, have been meeting weekly, to discuss the question of; "What do we need to do in Warwick District to help address climate change by 2030?"

Led by independent facilitators, Shared Future and under the watchful eye of an oversight panel (which includes local business representatives, community groups, local government, academics and Matt Western MP) the sessions have looked at the science of climate change and the sources and effects of carbon emissions in the District, including transport.

In the New Year they will be turning their attention to housing and buildings with the aim of submitting their recommendation report in February.

Warwick District Council's Portfolio Holder for Environment Councillor Alan Rhead commented; "We are very pleased with how well the Inquiry is progressing so far, with high panel attendance, excellent contributions from expert speakers and great contributions from panel members.

"I am really looking forward to seeing the outcomes."

To date all meetings have been held virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions. Those interested in finding out more about the Inquiry and viewing the video presentations made by expert speakers can visit the Warwick District Council website.
