The county council is set to press forward with an 18-month trial closure at a local beauty spot.

Warwickshire County Council has confirmed the move for The Causeway (the three roads around the lakes comprising the end of Malthouse Lane and Valley Road) at Earlswood Lakes.

It follows an informal public consultation launched earlier this year.

Dates for the closure are yet to be confirmed.

An update from the local authority over the weekend said: "We received an unprecedented response from the informal engagement.

"Whilst the county council recognises the weight of feeling both for and against closing the Causeway, there was a majority who supported the proposed trial closure and as such we will develop a proposal for a trial in 2027.

"The trial proposal will be informed by the feedback received through the engagement.

"We will release further details about the trial closure, including information on the formal consultation process, in due course."

Earlier this year, the single-lane road was said to "create conflicts between vehicles, pedestrians, anglers, equestrians and cyclists".

WCC said the closure will turn the road into a "safer, quieter route" for people using Earlswood Lakes, while "maintaining emergency and essential access through controlled arrangements".
