Scarecrows to be on display at annual Kenilworth Allotments open day this weekend

Locals will be able to see the entrants to Kenilworth Allotment's annual scarecrow competition at this weekend's open day.

The annual open day returns on Sunday 11 August, running from 1pm to 4pm, and follows the recent judging of the competition by town clerk Maggie Field.

"This year we have a record number of entries for our Scarecrow Comp, but even more will emerge on Sunday - that's guaranteed," organisers said.

"Our Scarecrows were judged today by our town clerk, Maggie Field."

Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Alan Chalmers and his wife, consort Eva will be in attendance on Sunday.

A portion of the money raised will go to the mayor's charity - Waverley.

"Our Association will also be making a donation to Medics to Medics, who support the Ukraine," organisers added.

"We have lots of attractions on display to include our usual Pimms and tea tents and bee keeping info as well as advice on recycling.

"Our popular samosa stand has returned alongside our Bowen Therapy practitioner, and new to our event Fletcher's Four Seasons Story Trails, following the adventures of Kenilworth's very own picture book fox as he explores the natural world aimed at three to five-year-olds (sponsored by Kenilworth Books)"
