Sir Jeremy Wright will step down as shadow attorney general following the election of Kemi Badenoch as the new Conservative Party leader.
Sir Jeremy was brought into the shadow cabinet in July by outgoing party leader Rishi Sunak, as 12 of the former prime minister's top team lost their seats in the general election.
But the MP for Kenilworth and Southam confirmed to Nub News today (November 6) he would be stepping down from the role this week.
He also said he "wishes the new leader well".
The Conservative MP was previously attorney general under Lord Cameron and Theresa May from July 2014 to July 2018.
The Parliament.uk website still names Sir Jeremy in the role, but The Telegraph has this afternoon reported Lord Wolfson of Tredegar has been appointed the new shadow attorney general.
The new shadow cabinet includes Chris Philp as the shadow home secretary, Dame Priti Patel as shadow foreign secretary and Dame Rebecca Harris as chief whip.
