Kenilworth restaurant’s 'quick lunch' menu the 'perfect' introduction to Thai food
A Kenilworth Thai restaurant is inviting locals to come and sample its 'quick lunches' menu which offers a chance to try a variety of traditional and fusion dishes.
Since opening last year, Nur Nur Paradise on Warwick Road has been a big hit with locals, bringing its extensive menu of classic South East Asian dishes and twists on western classics.
But the restaurant - which is owned and run by Lee Wangsalee and Chantana Nimcean - also has a different lunch menu which includes a selection of mixed plates inspired by the traditional Thai pinto lunchboxes.
"We want to encourage more people to come and try our lunchtime menu," Lee told Nub News.
"A lot of people are really interested in our Thai pinto boxes and love that they can try something new.
"The lunch menu is a slightly different menu to the evening, with more smaller bites.
"I have also really enjoyed talking to customers about what is traditional Thai, what is our twist on it, and what is different about what we do."
But the lunch menu does not just have the mixed platters, it also includes a number of Thai soups, small plates, street food dishes and also some of Nur Nur's popular curries.
"Customers love our Thai curries, the green, penang and massaman curry are particularly popular - especially at lunch," Lee added.
"If people think of Thai food, they think of curries mainly.
"And the pad thai and the hot thai basil are becoming more popular here. These are both very popular dishes back in Thailand."
Other local favourites on the lunch menu include the Bangkok Street food special Tipsy Tipsy Spaghetti - which is said to be the best cure for a hangover.
The spaghetti comes with mixed seafood, wok-fried with Thai "angry" hot sauce, lots of holy basil and garlic chilli bomb.
The menu also includes the Thai Hot Thai Basil which is said to be the most beloved Thai street food dish of all time. Served with jasmine rice, it is also known as pad kra pao gai.
"The menu is designed to have lots of quick bites on it, so you can come in and try something new without having a big sit down meal," Lee explained.
"But there are also some bigger dishes on there if you want something more substantial.
"Thai food can be spicy, but it is all about fresh ingredients and lots of flavour.
"Our lunch menu is the perfect place to start if you have never had Thai food."
