The University of Warwick is running a year-long festival as part of the Coventry City of Culture celebrations.

The 'Resonate' festival will see 12 months of online events, exhibitions, films, walking tours and debates. It will end with a live celebration event on the Warwick campus in April 2022.

Each month there will be new theme, including 'Invention', 'Sanctuary', 'Community' and 'Freedom'.

The themes and events have been designed to "spark creativity, connectivity, collaboration and conversations across the city."

The university, which is a principal partner of the Coventry City of Culture Trust, also wants to use the festival to reach local people who have never engaged with the university before. Whether this be children and young people, or adults who have never attended a university event before.

Festival director Professor Helen Wheatley said: "We're so proud to be bringing the Resonate Festival to Coventry, celebrating our wonderful vibrant City of Culture and the role that our staff and students play in the city.

"At the heart of our programme are events and activities that are designed to excite, inspire and resonate with the widest possible range of audiences, encouraging new ideas, connections, creativity and conversations.

"We've also been thoughtful in how we represent and reflect on our city's varied cultural traditions, seeking to bring diverse voices and artistic traditions together with our university's academic researchers."

Events include:

- We are Searching for Life (June 21, at 2pm)

An online screening of a short film of a poem created by artist Salma Zulfiqar working with refugees and inspired by the Crossing the Mediterranean Sea by Boat research project carried out by University of Warwick.

- Cultivating the inner sanctuary with mindfulness (June 21, 3pm - 4pm)

A mixture of relevant mindfulness practices (including a light meditation) and discussion.

- Building Community Resilience Amid the Pandemic: A research-Art response (June 22, 6pm - 8pm)
