The Kenilworth Lido Campaign group is urging residents to show support for the town's outdoor pool in a survey being run by Kenilworth Town Council.

The 'Kenilworth Community Survey' is asking for residents' views on where in the town £3m in funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy should be spent.

The lido in Abbey Fields remains closed, as Warwick District Council continues to review the possibility of reopening it in 2021.

The Abbey Fields redevelopment project could see the leisure centre at Abbey Field knocked down later this year, if planning permission is given by WDC.

Whilst the survey is not connected to the WDC application, the campaign group is hoping that residents' responses will show a desire for outdoor swimming to remain in the town.

What is the group asking for?

The survey contains a free text box to be filled in. The groups is calling on residents to type: "Please invest in securing the outdoor pool in Abbey Fields for use this year and going forward look at all of the options for retaining outdoor swimming in Kenilworth."

Group secretary Judy Brook has said that she was delighted with the positive response to the recent exhibition celebrating the 125th anniversary of the lido. She has said that the interest clearly demonstrates that there is still much interest in keeping an outdoor pool in the town.

She said: "Coupled with the fact that Warwick District Council is now going to review its decision not to open the outdoor pool this summer and Kenilworth Town Council is considering a motion urging WDC to open it, citing the benefits to health and increased tourism, it is vitally important that we all keep the pressure on by using every opportunity to remind councillors that we do not want to lose this valuable and irreplaceable facility."

The survey can be accessed here.
