Phase one of the new Kenilworth School and Sixth Form has been completed, Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust has today announced.

The new £44 million school, which is being built by Morgan Sindall Construction, is due to be finished in time for pupils to walk through the doors in September 2023.

Early works are now well underway with the site, which was farmland, now completely cleared and levelled and the school's steel frame almost complete.

The works, which started in May 2021, have seen 3,980 tonnes of concrete used to make temporary haul roads, the new tennis and netball courts built and solar-powered 'eco welfare cabins' opened on site.

At its peak there will be a 200-strong workforce on site as Morgan Sindall looks to complete the three-story school on Glasshouse Lane.

Richard Fielding, area director at Morgan Sindall Construction, said: "We're delighted to be delivering this landmark project on behalf of KMAT and for families living in the Kenilworth area. Schools are absolutely at the heart of the community and the state-of-the-art educational space and sports facilities consolidated on a single site will make a huge difference.

"We are also planning to sponsor the school's rugby team and contribute towards its upcoming trip to Canada. We are working closely with ecologists on site to protect local wildlife, including newts and hedgehogs, and we will replant the existing bluebells.

"The school's green team joins us occasionally and it's extremely encouraging witnessing how important the environment is to them."

Over the coming weeks contractors will finish the rest of the steel frame, the rest of the outdoor sports facilities and the permanent perimeter fencing.
