A new memorial bench has been unveiled in Abbey Fields as part of the centenary celebrations for the Kenilworth war memorial.
The bench was put in place during a small service in Abbey Fields on Saturday, February 26 – 100 years after the memorial was first dedicated by Lord Lieutenant Francis Leigh.
Revered Stella Bailey was joined by Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Peter Jones, other councillors and members of the Kenilworth branch of the Royal British Legion for the short service.
The bench was paid for by donations from residents and local organisations – separate to the "record-breaking" £30,000 raised by the poppy appeal last November.
During the service more wreaths were laid at the memorial to add to those still in place from Remembrance Sunday.
And a painting of the castle surrounded by poppies was presented to Kenilworth Town Council.
A gallery of images of the war memorial over the past 100 years can be found here.
