The annual Boxing Day duck race has been postponed by the organisers.

The race which was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic has now been postponed for a second year in a row due to the "river being deemed unsafe".

The race will now take place on Saturday, January 1 2022.

A statement from Kenilworth Lions said: "Due to forces beyond our control the river is deemed unsafe.

"Sadly the decision has been taken to cancel the Duck race tomorrow and reschedule for January 1 2022 (New Years Day).

"The Christmas lights switch on events may have been cancelled, and the Boxing Day Duck Race postponed until New Year's Day, but tickets will be available on the morning of the race."

The 2021 race is also set to include a new corporate race which will see 17 larger decoy ducks, each decorated by local businesses, take to the course before the main event.

The winning corporate duck will receive over £700 to be donated to a charity of that business' choice.
