Kenilworth planning this week: Objection to new games room, new Specsavers signs and update on £44m school works
Below are the key planning applications in Kenilworth recently received or decided on by Warwick District Council.
Objection to new kitchen and games room
The proposed erection of single storey rear extension to form a new kitchen and games room at a New Street house has been objected to by Warwickshire County Council's ecological services.
The comment said: "A preliminary bat roost assessment is recommended to be carried out prior to determination. The report should also consider other notable species such as, nesting birds / if there are any ponds on site.
"I would recommend deferral of this application until this information is provided. Once this information is received, we will provide further comments."
Specsavers illuminated sign
At its latest planning meeting Kenilworth Town Council found no reason to object to an application by Specsavers for an internally-illuminated fascia sign and an internally illuminated projecting sign.
Prior application for large home extension
Notification for prior approval for proposed larger home extension for erection of single storey rear extension on St Nicholas Avenue.
Depth 6.00m, height to ridge 3.50m and height to eaves 2.88m.
Demolition existing garage and workshop
Planning permission has been granted for the demolition of an existing garage and workshop on Mayo Drive.
The application also includes the erection of single storey side extension.
New Kenilworth School
Phase one of the £44 million development of the new Kenilworth School is now complete.
Early works are now well underway with the site, which was farmland, now completely cleared and levelled and the school's steel frame almost complete.
The works, which started in May 2021, have seen 3,980 tonnes of concrete used to make temporary haul roads, the new tennis and netball courts built and solar-powered 'eco welfare cabins' opened on site.
