A Kenilworth bus service will become more frequent despite staff shortages due to Covid-19.

The number 11 bus route, which travels from Coventry and Leamington via Kenilworth, will now run every 20 minutes during the day, Monday to Saturday.

Changes to the National Express Coventry service will begin today, Tuesday, January 4, replacing the former twice-hourly service.

The number 11 is one of 12 different buses to be effected by the changes which aim to "improve service reliability".

The times of the first and last services of each day will stay the same.

Managing director David Bradford said: "From 4 January we are making changes to some of our services to provide better reliability for our customers. Most of the changes are timetable amendments.

"First and last buses remain unchanged."

The number 11 had a slight route change last July following the reopening of The Parade in Leamington.

Changes have been announced despite the fact that "National Express Coventry has recently suffered some unavoidable bus service disruption due to the nationwide issue of driver shortages."

NX Coventry has also reminded passengers about the importance of following Covid-19 regulations on its buses.

"I would like to remind everybody that it is mandatory to wear face coverings on all public transport, including buses, unless you're exempt, so please remember to bring one with you for your journey," added Mr Bradford.

"Travelling by bus is really safe - we are still carrying out enhanced cleaning of shared surfaces; using a long-lasting antimicrobial protective coating which is certified to kill Covid - even between cleans.

"When we've tested the bus handrails, they showed a microbe score comparable to food preparation surfaces."
