A derailed train has caused disruptions to services at Kenilworth Railway Station today.

The "low-speed partial derailment" happened near Leamington Spa Station at 10.40pm last night (Tuesday, December 21).

The train, which was not carrying passengers at the time, was returned to the rails and moved from the scene.

West Midlands Railway said services were delayed or cancelled until the line fully reopened at 11am this morning.

A WMR spokesperson said: "Services between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa were subject to delays and cancellations on Wednesday morning following a low-speed partial derailment.

"Any passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more due to the disruption can claim compensation via our Delay Repay scheme."

WMR also said that a full investigation was underway to find out why the train was derailed.

WMR announced earlier in the month that a full timetable would return for Kenilworth Railway Station after months of bus replacements and last minute cancellations.

Yesterday's incident also comes just weeks after a CrossCountry train was hit by a tree near Kenilworth.
