Kenilworth Women put on a much-improved performance in a game where the 40-0 scoreline did not truly reflect the story of the match against Loughborough.
The opening 40 minutes saw an impressive display from Kenilworth as they were able to keep Loughborough almost entirely pinned in their own half.
Fly half Katie Pittaway made good use of the wind, pinning Loughborough back with clever kicks over the top.
However, a lack of ruthlessness in the final third cost Kenilworth once again and they were unable to convert their territory into points.
In a rare foray into the Kenilworth 22, Loughborough's flanker was able to dodge through the defensive line to touch down, leaving the score 5-0 at half time.
Kenilworth started the second half strongly, winning a turnover straight from the kick-off and with powerful scrums driving Loughborough off their own ball.
However, now playing against the wind and with some injuries taking their toll, Loughborough had the momentum and scored four tries in 20 minutes to seal the win.
Kenilworth did not lose heart and were agonisingly short of putting points on the scoreboard themselves - prop and co-captain Aimee Dymek had two tries disallowed, once for double movement and one that was held up.
For her efforts in the scrum and her strong carries, Dymek was nominated forward of the match, with centre Felicity Baldwin winning back of the match.
Loughborough picked fly half Katie Pittaway was their player of the match.
It has been a tough few weeks for Kenilworth, having played the three top teams in the league one after the other.
With no match this weekend, this will be the perfect time to regroup and recover.
Their next match is Barnsley at home on the 13 of November. This will be the first time these two sides have met competitively since Kenilworth's memorable cup quarter-final win four years ago, and it promises to be another competitive fixture.
