Phil Boulton has named his first squad as the new head coach at Kenilworth Rugby Club as the men's XV line up for their first league game since 2019.

Kenilworth will host Whitchurch RFC at Glasshouse Lane tomorrow (September 3) for a 3pm kick off, some 553 days since they beat Lichfield 20-12 in their last competitive match.

As well as looking forward to the return of rugby to Kenilworth Boulton has also said that he is full of confidence in his players.

"After the longest pre-season in history, I'm so excited for the players to finally get the chance to take to the field in a league game and show our supporters what we can do," he said.

"The lads have been fantastic in training, and there has been a real buzz of excitement throughout the sessions this week."

The return of competitive rugby tomorrow comes shortly after the club revealed its new badge, signalling development on and off the pitch.

After facing Whitchurch in the Midlands Division One tomorrow, Kenilworth will then travel to Wolverhampton for the next game of the season.

Boulton added: "Selection was really tough, as we have built real depth to the squad over the last few months, and it's been great to see the new and established players gelling well, with the combinations within the team developing good understanding of one another's play, which bodes really well as the season progresses.

"I'm confident the squad I've selected can deliver a positive result for the club come the final whistle on Saturday."
