Fine top order display sees Kenilworth cruise to 87-run victory over neighbours Stoneleigh

A win over neighbours Stoneleigh yesterday has kept Kenilworth's dreams of glory in the Arden Sunday League alive as they cemented their third place.

Kenilworth's first XI completed an 87-run victory over Stoneleigh yesterday courtesy of an exemplary top-order display from the Town side.

Kenilworth posted 197-7 courtesy of Adam Huxford (66), young Shyaan Imam (51) and George Baines (45).

Sailish took 2-11 for the hosts, Goshame 2-52 ,with a wicket each for Tariq, Srinivasan and Ramkumar.

In reply, Stoneleigh could only reach 110 as they were bowled out inside 28 overs. Abdul had made 23 for Stoneleigh, adding to Gosami on 22.

Charles Lamprecht snapped up a fine 4-26 from his spell for Kenilworth as Kapil Dubey took 2-14, Tom Skinner 2-18 with a wicket each for Jono Sparks and Matt Casey.

Kenilworth's victory helps them to consolidate third spot in the Arden Sunday League as they sit just eight points and a game in hand behind the top two.

Rugby chased down Kenilworth second's total of 98 within 26 overs of their friendly fixture yesterday, securing a three-wicket win for the East Warwickshire side.

Kenilworth lost their last eight wickets for only 16 runs after being 82-2 as they collapsed and were bowled out for 98 inside 29 overs.

Kenilworth's Dan Roden had earlier made 28, James Adamson 27 and Dhruv Vyas 18 as Rafel took 4-26, Winnell 2-26, Slaughter 2-9 and Desai 2-7 for the visitors.

Rugby too struggled with the wicket but edged over the line to secure the three-wicket victory ending the day on 101-7 from 25.2 overs.

This despite the best efforts of Kenilworth's Ben Clarke who took 3-14.
