Kenilworth's first team manager has called local fans to support the first XV as they host fellow promotion hopefuls Lichfield at Glasshouse Lane this Saturday.

The first XV have made an impressive start to their Midlands One West campaign, with five wins from their opening five games.

Kens now sit top of the division with fellow unbeaten side Lichfield just five points behind, having played one game less.

At the end of the curtailed 2019-20 season Kenilworth and Lichfield were separated by just five points, with the two teams sitting second and third in the division respectively.

Saturday's 3pm kick off at Glasshouse Lane is therefore set up to be one of the toughest and most anticipated games of the new season.

Last time around Kenilworth edged Lichfield 20-12 at home, making up for 29-0 away defeat earlier in the season.

And with so much riding on Saturday's result, first XV manager Adam Turner is calling on local fans to get behind the Kens this weekend.

"The two teams were separated by very little when the league was last competed for in 2020, with a home win for each side, so a tight affair is expected.

"We are looking to raise a large crowd to cheer the lads on, so #kenfamily, please clear the diary and be sure to be pitch-side come 3pm on Saturday, and enjoy some of the finest local rugby around."
