The Crackley Lane Croquet lawns were buzzing with energy as some of the club's squash juniors returned for their annual introduction to croquet — a relaxed but skilful game that offered a fun change of pace from the fast-paced action of squash.

Despite a brief summer storm that delayed the start, the young players gathered in good spirits at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club, chatting and laughing as they waited for the skies to clear.

Soon enough, the sun returned, and the group headed out for an hour of play — many of them picking up a croquet mallet for the first time.

What followed was a lively and enjoyable session, full of curiosity, quick learning, and plenty of cheerful competition.

Before long, players were getting the hang of the game's unique rhythm.

From carefully placed shots to unexpected take-outs, the enthusiasm was clear — and the laughter even more so.
