Kenilworth squash star gets OBE as success recorded across the board at Crackley Lane
By James Smith 2nd Apr 2026
It has been a "remarkable year of growth, success and community" spirit at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash & Croquet Club, with achievements spanning tennis, squash, racketball and croquet as the club heads into a busy summer season.
Success has been seen in multiple sports at the Crackley Lane club, including Sarah-Jane Perry officially receiving her OBE.
Tennis thriving on and off the court
The tennis section continues to flourish, with social sessions proving hugely popular and attracting strong attendance throughout the year.
A full programme of weekly sessions resumes from late April, offering opportunities for players of all abilities, alongside a well-loved monthly Americano tournament.
Junior tennis is a "major success story", the club has said, with a growing number of young players progressing through a strong coaching pathway.
Several teams topped their winter leagues, while six juniors now represent at county and regional level — "a clear sign of the club's strength in developing future talent".
The ladies' section has been "particularly impressive".
More than 40 players competed across six teams, with the veterans 1st team securing the Warwickshire Ladies Veterans Championship for a third consecutive year.
In the Stratford and District Winter League, two teams claimed division titles, while the A team has built an extraordinary 19-match unbeaten run.
Men's tennis is also on the rise, with four teams preparing for summer competition and strong weekly practice attendance.
A new senior mixed team has been introduced, expanding opportunities for older players to compete.

Squash and racketball deliver 'outstanding' season
"It has been a standout campaign for the squash and racketball sections, with success across all levels," the club has said.
All four men's squash teams ended the winter season strongly, with three earning promotion.
The first team secured an impressive third-place finish in the Premier Division, while the third team claimed a league title and the 4th team also moved up after finishing runners-up.
The women's team added to the celebrations by being crowned Spring League champions, underlining their consistency and quality.
Racketball players also impressed, with the first team narrowly missing out on top spot in Division two by just one point. The club also hosted a successful graded tournament, where several home players took top honours.

OBE investiture at Windsor Castle
Last Tuesday marked a very special occasion, as KTSCC's own Sarah-Jane (SJ) was formally awarded her OBE at Windsor Castle.
The honour was presented by the Prince of Wales during the investiture ceremony — a memorable day in a truly iconic setting.
"The recognition is a reflection of SJ's outstanding contribution to squash, both on and off the court, and is a moment the whole club can take great pride in," the club said.
"From her achievements as a professional player to her ongoing impact in coaching and administration, this honour is richly deserved.
"It was fantastic to see Kenilworth represented on such a prestigious stage, and we're delighted to be able to share a photo from the day.
"A huge congratulations once again, SJ — a brilliant achievement and an inspiration to so many across the club and the wider squash community."

Home Internationals Masters selection
KTSCC is "delighted to congratulate" the following players on their "outstanding achievement" of being selected to represent their countries in the upcoming Masters Home Internationals.
Jenny McKenna (O35/40) earns her third cap as she represents Wales this April in Galway — "a fantastic honour".
Debbie Locke also celebrates her third cap as she lines up for England O50s in Aberdeen at the end of April, "an impressive milestone".
Meanwhile, Natalie Townsend will make her sixth appearance for England O45s at the start of May in Cardiff, "continuing her remarkable run at international level".
"We wish them all the very best of luck and are incredibly proud of their success," KTSCC added.
Croquet Season Set for Busy Start
It is fast approaching the official start of the croquet which will be on Saturday 4 April.
The lawns have been well aerated and fertiliser applied and the lines will be whitened and the hoops re-positioned if necessary. The regular mowing schedule for the lawns will be starting in a couple of weeks as well.
KTSCC's first competition of the year, the Charlecote Cup, which is played under winter rules, is getting underway and other GC and AC competitions will also be starting soon.
"We already have hospitality events booked in for May, June and July and more are in the pipeline," the club added.
"The West Midland Federation leagues will also be starting in April and we wish our teams well for the 2026 campaign.
"Looking forward to another busy season.
"From grassroots participation to elite-level success, the club continues to demonstrate why it remains one of Warwickshire's leading sporting communities.
