Kenilworth Rugby Club is set to welcome the next generation of female players with a free girls U12 rugby taster session on Wednesday, April 9, from 6pm to 7pm.

Open to all girls currently in Year 6 the session is designed to give young players the chance to "experience the excitement and camaraderie" of rugby in a "fun and supportive environment".

With the Women's Six Nations currently captivating audiences, interest in girls' rugby is at an all-time high.

Kenilworth RFC is keen to build on this momentum, providing young players with a "clear pathway from junior rugby through to senior level".

The club boasts a thriving U18 girls' team and a women's side competing in the RFU Championship (Level 2) - one of the highest levels of domestic women's rugby.

Philippa Rawbone-Stephens, one of the club's coaches and current 1st team player, expressed her enthusiasm for the launch of the new team.

"There's never been a more exciting time for girls to get into rugby," she said.

"The buzz around the Women's Six Nations is incredible, and we're seeing more and more young players wanting to get involved.

"This taster session is a fantastic opportunity for girls about to start secondary school to give rugby a go in a fun, friendly setting. We can't wait to welcome them to the club and help them start their rugby journey."

The session will be led by an experienced coaching team, including RFU-qualified coaches with Premiership playing experience, providing young players with top-level guidance and inspirational role models.

No prior experience is needed, and no special equipment is required - girls simply need to wear comfortable sports clothing and turn up ready to play. Players are encouraged to bring a friend and experience the sport together.
